Sedona area

Although millions of tourists visit Sedona annually for its breathtaking red rock vistas and healing energy, it is much less known that the region is also home to some of the finest examples of historic southwest Native American rock art. Native peoples lived here for thousands of years before the first New World explorers and pioneers happened upon this land.

It is our intent to document the artwork left behind by the ancient artists of this region who proceeded us by hundreds, or even thousands of years.

All images posted here are original photographs, as we have begun to explore the sites and document the historic artwork. Some images have been digitally enhanced to increase the contrast for better viewing via the internet, but no aspect of the artwork itself has been altered.

It is our hope to spark your imagination and interest about the artists' intended messages, wonder about the people who made them, and to provide a vehicle for donations to help preserve the sites for future generations.
